KTorrent 4.0 is finally released. This release add some rather interesting features like magnet support and the µTP protocol (bittorrent over UDP).

2. rTorrent - ncurses BitTorrent client based on LibTorrent

rtorrent is a BitTorrent client based on LibTorrent. It uses ncurses and is therefor ideal to use with screen. It has the following features:


 Use an URL or file path to add torrents at runtime
Stop/delete/resume torrents
Optionally loads/saves/deletes torrents automatically in a session directory
Safe fast resume support
Shows lots of information about peers and the torrent

3.  QTorrent - A Qt BitTorrent client

QTorrent is a BitTorrent client that uses the Qt widget-set. It allows you to have several torrents open at the same time from within the same program window, offering you easy overview, access and management through a list-mode. Every torrent also has it’s own page where you can control things like upload speed and upload slots. A page that shows some statistics of all open torrents is also available.

4. TorrentFlux - PHP BitTorrent Client

5. Transmission 2.04

Transmission differs from bigger clients like μTorrent, Vuze, and BitComet in that it is volunteer-based, open source, and noncommercial. There is no payware version as with Vuze Plus. We don’t bundle toolbars, adware, DNA, or anything else. If we did, someone else would fork the project and strip it back out. So what you see is what you get — and if you’d like to check under the hood to see for yourself, the source code is available for anyone to read.

6. Deluge 1.3.0

Deluge is a full-featured BitTorrent client for Linux, OS X, Unix and Windows. It uses libtorrent in it’s backend and features multiple user-interfaces including: GTK+, web and console. It has been designed using the client server model with a daemon process that handles all the bittorrent activity. The Deluge daemon is able to run on headless machines with the user-interfaces being able to connect remotely from any platform.


Deluge features a rich plugin collection; in fact, most of Deluge’s functionality is available in the form of plugins.

7. monotorrent – A winforms GUI for the Bitsharp libraries

This project aims to create a WinForms based GUI for the Bitsharp libraries to allow people to download, create and host torrents on any OS.

The project is written in C# and as a result runs on Windows (via MS.NET), MacOS X and most flavours of nix (via Mono).

8. TorrentFlux

TorrentFlux is a free PHP based Torrent client that is scripted in PHP, with a MySQL database and runs on a web server. With TorrentFlux you can manage all of your Torrent downloads through a convenient web interface from anywhere.

TorrentFlux enables you to run BitTorrent downloads unattended on a monitor-less or remote server 24 hours a day, while still maintaining complete control from any web browser. Now you can control your downloading on your firewall, or keep up with downloads while on vacation. It uses the BitTornado client to download files, and also requires a web server with PHP.
